SKETCH-OF-THE-DAY 063

D is for Dharmapalas

There are eight of these protectors of the Dharma (the Truth) in Buddhist lore - and, fortunately for me and having fun with this sketch, the Tibetan versions are particularly terrifying (even though they fight against evil).

  1. In Hindu mythology, Dharma is another name for Yama (god of death)
and he is always pictured as terrifying one, riding on a buffalo.

He is a fiery looking one like the one you did above.

    A great blog.
